Bokay Flower Farms is a family run operation located in Ramarama which is 25 minutes South of the Auckland CBD and was established in 1980 from scratch by Bernie and Pat Kay, later to be joined by their daughter Kerry and now Jacob, Kerry's son has joined the operation.
Farming was Bernie’s passion and Pat quickly came on board sharing Bernie’s passion and together they created the successful flower farm that operates today. The cut flower nursery provides for the local flower industry and distributes quality cut flowers throughout the country to auctions, wholesalers and retailers.
Bokay Flower Farms specialises in the production of gerbera (standard and mini), solidago and soon alstromeria will be added to their product list. The latest varieties and colours are grown thus keeping up with market trends and fashion.
Gerberas, solidago and alstromeria are grown under 1.4 hectares of heated growing houses using the latest eco-friendly growing technology and systems from world leaders, Holland. The introduction of predator insects has recently been a added to the pest management control regime to reduce and hopefully eliminate the use of chemicals.
Bokay Flower Farms has recently made the tough decision to replace their old anthurium crop with alstromeria. There were many factors which contributed to this decision, the main factors being the costly replacement of a new anthurium crop and also competition from the imported anthurium cut flowers. It was no longer viable for the farm to carry on with the production of anthurium.
We expect our exciting new alstromeria crop to be flushing prior to Christmas 2022 with a bunch of vibrant new alstromeria varieties (to be added to our website soon).
